How Do You Charge a Foger Vape?

The Foger Switch Pro is one of the most unique vaping devices that’s ever been created. With its incredible capacity of up to 30,000 puffs, some people may find that they’re able to use the same device for weeks before it needs to be replaced – and the best part is that when it’s time to replace the device, you can actually keep the main battery component and replace just the separate e-liquid pod. That reduces the Foger vape’s load on the environment because most of the battery capacity is reusable rather than disposable.

The fact that the Foger Switch Pro is sold in two different types of packages, however, creates confusion for some consumers. You can buy the device as a full kit including both a pod and a charging dock, or you can buy the pod on its own. The pod actually has a small internal battery and functions as a standalone vaping device, so some people who don’t understand how the Foger Switch Pro works just buy the pod because it costs less – and then they’re stuck trying to figure out what to do when the device’s battery dies.

So, how do you charge a Foger vape? In this guide, we’ll explain everything that you need to know.

How to Charge a Foger Vape

When you look at the pod component of the Foger vape, the first thing you’ll notice is that the device doesn’t have a USB port. That’s because the pod doesn’t charge without the charging dock. Here’s how it works.

  • To charge the Foger vape, start by connecting the charging dock to your computer’s USB port. While the dock charges, the battery indicators on the screen light up to let you know the battery’s current status. You can charge the dock on its own, or you can charge it with the pod attached.
  • To charge the pod, attach it to the charging dock. You’ll notice that the pod component has three metal pins at the bottom; those pins need to touch the contacts at the bottom of the dock. When the pod is charging, a lightning bolt icon will appear on the charging dock’s screen. When the lightning bolt disappears, the pod is fully charged.

The pod component of the Foger Switch Pro has a battery with a capacity of 200 mAh, so charging the battery should take approximately 15-25 minutes. The charging dock has a capacity of 850 mAh and takes a little under an hour to charge.

How to Fix a Foger Vape that Isn’t Charging

One of the reasons why the Foger Switch Pro has become one of the world’s most popular vapes so quickly is because it’s one of the most technologically advanced vapes on the market. Having a separate charging dock, a color display and a visible e-liquid supply really puts this device in a class of its own. One downside of the design, though, is that the Foger vape is much more complex than most other disposable vapes. That means there are more things that can potentially go wrong. If you do some searching online, you’ll definitely find plenty of reports from people who have had trouble getting their Foger vapes to charge. Never fear, though, because you’re going to find the solution here.

What to Do if the Dock Isn’t Charging

If the charging dock for the Foger Switch Pro doesn’t light up when you connect it to your computer, follow these steps to get it working.

  • Replace the charging cable. USB-C cables typically don’t last very long, and the reliability issues will only be compounded with a cable that’s getting connected and removed several times a day – especially if you’re gripping it by the cable rather than the connector. When you have a vape that doesn’t charge, using a different USB cable will usually fix it.
  • Connect the Foger charging dock to a different power source. Use a different computer or a different USB port on the same computer. You can also try charging the dock through a wall adapter, but you should check the sticker on the adapter first to make sure that its charging current is no higher than 5 volts and 1 amp. Don’t use a fast charger for a tablet or phone.
  • Make sure that the USB port on the charging dock is clean. If you carry the dock in your pocket, lint could be inside the port. You can remove it with a toothpick.

What to Do if the Pod Isn’t Charging

If you don’t see the lightning bolt icon when you connect the pod to the charging dock, it means that the pod isn’t charging. Here’s what you should do next.

  • Make sure that you’ve removed the plastic film covering the metal contacts at the bottom of the pod. Since the Foger Switch Pro ships fully assembled, there’s a strip of film covering the contacts to ensure that the dock won’t incur unwanted battery drain.
  • Jiggle the contacts at the bottom of the pod with a toothpick or other small nonmetal tool. It’s possible that one of the pins is stuck and isn’t making contact with the pins on the charging dock. If all three pins don’t touch, the pod won’t charge.
  • Adjust the pod while it’s on the charging dock by moving the pod in a slight twisting motion. If the pins aren’t quite touching, this small adjustment may fix the issue.
  • Make sure that the contacts on both the pod and the charging dock are clean. You can rub away any corrosion with a pencil eraser. If you find e-liquid or other residue on the contacts, you can remove it with a paper towel. If the contacts are extremely dirty, try cleaning them with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol.
  • If nothing works, it’s possible that the pins on the bottom of the pod aren’t touching the pod’s internal wires because the wires are misaligned – perhaps because the pod has been jostled or dropped. You can access the wires by gently twisting and pulling the pod’s bottom cover. Realign the wires and replace the cover.
