5 Ways to Maximize Your Edge in Andar Bahar

Andar Bahar goes way back, much older than the modern-day nation of India whence it arose. One of the reasons it rose to such prominence in the subcontinent and since stretching all around the globe is its simplicity. Like the other biggest casino hits – it’s based on luck, and it’s accessible to the most casual of players. So in a game of chance, there isn’t anything you can do to maximize your edge – or is there?

In reality, there are still various factors that influence how much you can win, not losing your cool, and your chances of winning. Today we are going to break down precisely what those are.

Rules of the Game

1. Bet on the side that gets dealt the first card

By betting on the Bahar, your side gets a chance to win one card ahead of the other side, giving you a slightly above average statistical chance of winning. 

For this reason, the payout is going to be lower though than the Andar side. It is up to you whether you’d like to bank on the highest winning probability or the biggest payout. The payout difference is therefore 0.9 to 1. With a winning probability of 51.50% if you bet on the side that gets the first card.

2. Avoid Side Bets

This is another way to up the ante. In addition to betting Andar or Bahar in this game, there are special variations of Andar Bahar which allow for side bets. So when you initially place your bet on the game, you have the opportunity to make yet another bet. The most popular move here is for people to stake on the total cards dealt over the game. You can also bet on other things like the suit or color of the deciding card. Since this will be a challenge to guess, you can enjoy a much bigger payout in the event that you win, although your probability of winning falls. 

Super Bahar is a live dealer version of Andar Bahar where such side bets are available. On the whole, however, you are going to lose much more often than not by placing side bets, since they give the house a much bigger edge, typically of somewhere around 20-30%.
